Electric vehicles enjoy certain privileges in Portugal, particularly regarding parking and charging stations. Even though there's no nationwide law, many cities in Portugal allow electric car drivers to park at reduced rates or even for free. However, the rules vary from city to city.
Important: Free parking doesn't automatically mean unlimited parking. In some places, the parking duration is also limited for electric cars.
Portugal has so-called Low Emission Zones (Zonas de Baixas Emissões, ZBE for short)—for example, in Lisbon. Strict entry bans apply there for older vehicles.
